Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
Currumbin WATERS & Double Bay
Pure Oxygen. Pure Restoration.
Breathe in renewal. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) immerses you in a pressurised environment of pure oxygen, allowing your body to absorb higher concentrations deep into the bloodstream. This surge of oxygen fuels cellular repair, reduces inflammation, and supports optimal recovery — promoting deep rejuvenation from the inside out.
Discover Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
Wellness Benefits of Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurised chamber to significantly increase oxygen levels in the bloodstream. This elevated oxygen delivery enhances healing, reduces inflammation, and supports recovery by saturating tissues and organs that may have limited blood supply. By optimising oxygen delivery at the cellular level, HBOT accelerates the body’s natural healing processes — supporting both acute recovery and chronic conditions. Our serene, spacious chamber provides a calm, restorative environment designed for deep relaxation and rejuvenation.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
Understanding the Science Behind It
To understand how HBOT works, it helps to know three key principles:
Atmosphere Absolute (ATA):
At sea level, air pressure equals 1 ATA — the standard measure of the air pressing down on us.
Boyle’s Law:
Boyle’s Law states that as pressure increases, the volume of gas decreases. In HBOT, this means that under higher pressure, oxygen molecules become more densely packed — allowing the body to absorb significantly more oxygen into the bloodstream and tissues.
Henry’s Law:
This law states that the amount of gas dissolved in a liquid is directly proportional to the pressure above it. When applied to HBOT, this means that as air pressure increases (higher ATA), more oxygen dissolves into the blood plasma — allowing enhanced oxygen delivery throughout the body.
Elevate Your Evolution with Tailored HBOT Sessions
The more consecutive Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) sessions you complete, the greater the cumulative benefits — as oxygen saturation in the blood steadily increases over time.
The ideal number of sessions varies depending on your goals and individual response. Before your first treatment, our team will assess your wellbeing and design a personalised HBOT protocol to support your progress.
Most clients complete an initial series of 10–20 sessions, after which we reassess and adjust the protocol as needed to continue achieving optimal results.
What to Expect During HBOT
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a calm, restorative experience. You’ll lie comfortably on a cushioned mattress with pillows for support, free to rest, meditate, or simply enjoy some quiet.
Battery-operated devices aren’t permitted inside the chamber, creating the perfect opportunity to disconnect and unwind. Please note, HBOT may not be suitable for those with claustrophobia.
As the chamber pressurises, you may feel light ear pressure — similar to an airplane’s descent — which eases quickly and can be relieved by yawning or gently blowing with your nose pinched.
Our hard-shell chamber features a clear viewing window, two-way intercom communication, and a call bell that our team attends to immediately, ensuring your comfort and safety at all times.
FAQs: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
-
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that involves breathing concentrated oxygen in a pressurised chamber. This environment allows oxygen to dissolve more effectively into the bloodstream, supporting the body’s natural repair processes and promoting overall cellular function.
-
You’ll lie comfortably inside a specialised hard-shell chamber while the pressure is gently increased. Once at full pressure, you’ll breathe pure oxygen for the duration of the session. You can rest, read a book, or relax during this time. For safety reasons, no personal electronics are allowed inside the chamber.
-
The most noticeable sensation is a feeling of fullness in your ears, similar to what you might experience during take-off or landing in an airplane. This typically eases once the chamber reaches its target pressure. The session itself is relaxing, quiet, and many clients use the time to switch off.
-
Wear light, comfortable clothing.
-
Each HBOT session usually lasts between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on your protocol. The number of sessions recommended will vary based on individual goals and health history.
-
Yes, HBOT is widely used and considered safe when administered by trained professionals. Our team follows strict safety protocols and all sessions are overseen by qualified staff.
-
While HBOT is generally well-tolerated, it may not be suitable for individuals with certain conditions, such as untreated pneumothorax or specific ear or sinus issues. A consultation with our clinical team will help determine if HBOT is right for you.
-
We recommend avoiding alcohol and smoking before your session. Eat a light meal and hydrate well. Avoid wearing lotions, perfumes, or makeup.
-
Yes, most people feel completely fine and may even notice a boost in energy and mental clarity afterward. There’s no downtime required after HBOT.
-
The ideal number of sessions varies depending on your health goals. Some people benefit from a short series for general wellbeing, while others may follow a longer protocol. We can guide you based on your unique needs.
